I had a serious moment of weakness today on the way to Cristian's gymnastics. Thursday is our crazy day. We go from our drive home from work on to baseball practice after battling the 6 year old to get dressed so we won't be late, then have exactly 30 minutes to get to gymnastics. Now, usually Lara or I cook dinner the night before so that we don't have to worry about dinner on Thursday nights but frankly that just didn't happen yesterday.
So, I made myself a quick egg sandwich (which my lap band completely threw back at me) and we decided we would throw in the towel today and grab Cristian something from Burger King. I cannot even remember the last time we went to Burger King...years I imagine. One thing about good old BK - I LOVE their french fries, hence my slim form. :) But, I was not worried! Cristian never gets french fries with his meal, always apples, so NO temptation on my part...until the idiot in the drive-thru completely jacked our order.
We repeated not once, not even twice, but three times - chicken nuggets with apple fries and regular milk. We get to the window and I am a happy camper - no bad french fries to tempt me into empty calories...we get the bag and all I smell is french fries. Not only did he not give us apple fries but we ended up with 2, yes 2, orders of french fries with this kids meal. He insisted we KEEP the fries and then gave us the apples we actually ordered.
The WHOLE way to gymnastics all I could smell were those fries and I almost lost my mind! I haven't had BK fries in years!!! I confess, my willpower caved, and I ate not 1 but 2 cholesterol blocking, fat fuming, oil fried french fries. Whew...OK I know, french fries are not part of my healthy habits...but I stopped at 2, that counts for something right??
Once we got home Lara did the humane thing and tossed the bag of 2 orders of perfectly delicious french fries in the trash. Thank goodness for her :)
Good news is that I have still stayed on track! Had my honey bunches of oats with skim milk for breakfast, yummy extra lean corn beef for lunch, chex mix and a Fiber One bar for snacks, and eggs with cucumbers for dinner (well what I retained of it anyway)...ohh and a healthy skinny smoothie from smoothie king!
Just when I think my day can't possibly get better - I did the Tony Horton Sweat 1-2 and Abs 100 workout with Lara today and we didn't hit pause ONCE! When I did this on Tuesday, I had to pause at least 4 or 5 times. Now, I won't say I didn't modify a few moves to a lower impact, but I made it through the WHOLE 45 minutes!!! I am so pumped about that!!
I am so glad that I finally committed myself, come hell or high water, to working out 6 days a week and tracking my calories burned and food intake. This is the best investment I have ever made...investment in myself, in my health, and most importantly in the future I want to have with my son as he grows up. :)
So, I say...Day 5 - BRING IT ON!!!
Keep Moving,
M E

You did great!! It is amazing what a couple of days will do...no pause and no fries...that is wonderful. I modified considerably but I did it too...we are on track chicky!!
You go girl ....Its all worth it when your clothes start hanging all over you. And soon enough grease will taste sooo bad in your mouth that you wont even want it...Grease tastes terrible to me, sugar is intoxicating and I crave is water...I know who knew...Keep it up lady..
Fly from the fry, my friend!!
Yes yes...I flew! :)
