October is officially here!!  Can't wait for the cool weather to settle in so that I can take my butt outdoors for some real activity without melting!  Texas has the craziest weather.  Only in Texas you will have a "cold front" yet 90 degree weather!  During our cold front I had on a tank, shorts, and the AC going.  Fall will be a nice 4 weeks and then the cooooooold weather will take over.  But, I don't mind.  I love the cold weather!

I was pretty bummed I couldn't sign up for the Transformation Boot Camp they had starting in Allen on October 4th.  They had such an awesome deal too! If you signed up for the 4 week program then you could invite a friend to do the 4 week boot camp at any of their locations for free. The downside to the boot camp was that in Allen they only had it M - F from 5:30am - 6:30am and Lara and I would have no one to watch Cristian (he would be sleeping) while we did the camp. So...it didn't quite work out. Such a bummer...Boot camp was the only time I really got an intense workout that gave me RESULTS!

So I decided that I would research and design my own freaking boot camp. There are a ton of workout examples online so I am going to put together an actual program. When Lara and I went to the park and did the "Boot Camp Style" workout this past week it was more of a fly by the seat of our pants, figure it out as we go, kind of workout. Don't get me wrong, it was still a kick ass workout but if I had an actual program mapped out each week it would be SO much more effective! So that is my plan for this week...I am going to skip the outdoor boot camp workouts this week and instead map out a 4 week boot camp plan and then kick it off the following week. Will even open it up for any local friends that want to join us! It will be 3x a week….

Looked at treadmills tonight while Lara took a long nap and Cristian went on a drawing/coloring spree. After I put more thought into it and actually got on the treadmills in my price range I decided against the idea. The cushioning just isn't enough for my knee. I am afraid that it would be too much impact and then I would end up with a $600 dust collector in the living room. I think I am better off investing in smaller things that will help incorporate FUN physical things into our days now that the weather will allow for it….like a couple tennis racquets for instance :) The new lighted tennis courts are finally in and OPEN in Allen! Now, that sounds like a good time!

I am also putting together a softball game/get together on either Saturdays or Sundays...it will be a ton of fun! Lara and I had put this together when we lived in Florida and always had so much fun with everyone, not to mention it was GREAT exercise. The idea is that we find a central park (like Dallas maybe) and its an open invite for anyone who wants to join...you just show up, we break out into teams, and have a fun casual game of softball! Fun way to bring the kiddos and do something as a family too. We have all the equipment except a bunch of gloves but usually enough people that come have one so that there is enough to go around...Have quite a few people interested already so hope to get the 1st game setup soon. :)

That is my goal for the week - map out fun and active things to do OUTDOORS to integrate fitness naturally in my day vs a scheduled robotic workout...so if you have any fun ideas or want to join us on any of our planned activities - give me a SHOUT!!!

Keep Moving,
M E
