Mother's Day weekend was pretty productive. Richard and Courtnee came up on Saturday morning and spent the night. We haven't seen either one in quite some time so it was a nice treat. I just love Lara's dad to pieces... :) Cristian was happy to see his pops and his cousin Courtnee too. Saturday was actually warm enough that the pool was at a good temperature to go swimming. Even though no one else jumped in, Cristian decided that the pool was open and he was swimming...LOL..He had a blast going down the slide and doing cannon balls to get us wet. It was good to see he still remembered how to swim from last year. :)
Saturday afternoon we drove out to the lot that we are going to build on so that Richard could scope it out. Then we took him and Courtnee on a tour of the model home which also happens to be the floorplan we are going to build. That niece of mine makes me smile. She claimed "her room" and decided that she would have zebra print bedding. One more year and she is off to college. I can't believe she is so grown up now...17 years old. I have known that munchkin since she was 4! How time flies!
I cooked a pasta dinner on Saturday night which had the yummiest sauce! I am definitely buying that brand again at Target. It was Roasted Garlic and had these huge chunks of garlic in it. I made Quinoa (Spaghetti Style) which basically looks just like spaghetti but it is made from Quinoa...I love that stuff. Mother's day we spent the morning hanging out at home, hit up Best Buy, and then we took everyone out to lunch. Richard loaded up the dog pen and took it with him to J'ville after lunch. I still am not sure about the dog pen idea. I just am not comfortable with the idea of the dog pen being in an open area and not a fenced yard. If the dogs get loose then they can run into traffic. The cheapest boarding facility would be $900 a month and I just can't afford that either. So, I am still stuck between a rock and a hard place and don't know what to do with my dogs until September :( I am tired of "certain people" and their need to constantly force their lectures on us. If I hear "You have too many dogs and need to just get rid of them" one more time, the last ounce of compassion and patience I have managed to hang on to is going to desert me and trust me when I say that you don't want to be there for that. :) I love how people without children know how to be the "perfect" parent almost as much as I love people who think they know how you should live your life better than you do. Don't you?
Lara and I just got done working in the house for the night. Looking at the time I guess I should say for the morning. After Richard and Courtnee headed home we started working on the house. We did 2 car loads to storage. Finally got all the Xmas decorations and Lara's Spode China boxed up and shipped off to storage. We got Cristian's bedroom completely emptied. Took apart the bunk bed, loaded up the rest of the stuff in his room, and hauled off to storage. We are putting the captain twin bed from the guest room (his old nursery) into his bedroom and staging that as a regular bedroom. Then the guest room (nursery) we are going to stage as a toddler room. Putting his toddler bed back in there and the original bedset from when he was younger which matches the mural Lara and I did on the wall in there...
I got on a ladder and removed the blue tape along the ceiling and everything that was hanging up so now all there is left to do that room is repaint it. We emptied the family room, formal dining room, and breakfast area. Tomorrow morning the guys are coming to break up all the tile in the house so we had to make sure that all the main rooms were completely clear of furniture or stuff. Moved the furniture into 2 different bedrooms. I will be glad when all this is over with :)
Haven't done an "official" workout in a good week but my butt has definitely been kicked every day packing and hauling things between places. In fact, right now I can tell you all the places that don't hurt faster than I can tell you all the places that do...I am so sore...This too shall pass :)
Besides packing and doing house repairs I don't have anything interesting to report...Oh, wait...Lara got smacked in the head with the big board of the bunk bed while trying to load the pieces of the bed into storage. She was out there by herself to unload the car because it was way past Cristian's bedtime and he was asleep so I stayed home with him and worked on clearing rooms. Guess that hard head of hers came in handy tonight :) She is okay but I think she saw some stars...
Cheers,
