Yesterday was an exhausting day but it felt so great to get so much accomplished. We were going to take Cristian to see "Rio" with some friends but someone ended up sick, poor kid, so plans changed. We decided to skip the movie and instead get a little shopping out of the way and paint. I bought Cristian "The Goonies" yesterday since he was a little disappointed we missed the movie and he was stoked! "Rio"? What "Rio"? He had "The Goonies" and all was right with the world. LOL.
We finished painting the entrance and the formal dining room yesterday. We also did all the touch up paint in the other areas of the house which was a chore in itself. The paint we used inside the house was a Ralph Lauren paint we bought at home depot a couple years ago. What do you know..like the tile that paint is no longer carried. In fact, Home Depot doesn't even carry Ralph Lauren anymore. It took some time to get them to color match the paint well enough to blend but we finally got it! It looks identical, whew! We found the coolest stuff at HomeGoods to stage the niches with too! The best part is that the stuff we got won't go to waste because they are things I can totally use in my new house as well. Yeah!
Cristian had his "pay day" on Friday of $7 and it has been burning a hole in his pocket since. He carries the money with him anytime we leave the house "just in case" he spots something he wants to spend it on. Allowance has been a great math teacher for him lately because he keeps running into things he "HAS to have" that are greater than $7. Ah...the hard lessons in life. Saving for something you want now sucks, eh? So, yesterday I was laying on my bed while he was watching a movie and my back was so sore. I told him if he gave me a back massage that I would pay him $1. I have to say that he gives the best massages. I see a future in massage envy for him...He does karate chops and it feels awesome. He was super excited. So I got a 3 min massage for $1. Lara came in and commented on what a great job he was doing and he said...
Cristian - Mommy! I'm getting $1 for giving Mims a massage. Isn't that awesome? Now I can get that HUGE toy I want.
Lara - What huge toy?
Cristian - The pirate ship, remember??
Lara - Ooooh yes. That toy was $50. That is a lot of pay day money buddy. How much money do you have saved towards it so far?
Cristian - Hmmm...$7 and $1 from Mims...that's $8. Hmmm..so Mims...you just need some more massages and then I will get $1 all the way to $50.
Ha - love that logic but 42 massage I need not Batman :) I did give him $2 though. LOL...such an entrepreneur this kid. Speaking of Cristian...he was teaching me all kinds of things yesterday. Let's see what I can recall:
- The Goonies is the BEST movie EVER made period.
- You may know all about One-eyed Willie but there was also a one-eyed Cristian who hid stolen treasure.
- All you need is Pro-active because if you have pimples you need Pro-active and it will fix it.
- Oxi Clean is what you need to make sure you don't have any stains in your laundry.
- You need to practice how to write really really good so you can grow up to get a good job
- Knowledge is power so thats why kids have to go to school so they can be smart like their teacher.
- When it rains it is because the clouds are crying. The sun won't play with them so it makes them sad.
Don't you feel educated now? LOL! He sure makes me smile. :)
Plan for today? We are going to meet Sid the Science Kid at the Dallas museum of nature and science!! How cool! I better get the sleepyheads in my house up and dressed so we can leave soon. :)
