It finally feels like summer in Texas has left for greener pastures and winter is making its way into town! Today was rainy and a little on the chilly side until about 1pm when the sun came up. I couldn't have been happier to see the rain stop and the sun start shining because that meant that the tennis courts would dry up in time for some action! Missing my day of cardio yesterday due to the rainy weather just plain sucked. I missed playing tennis and burning my mad calories!
Cristian has been so awesome while we have been playing tennis. If he doesn't want to play on the court beside us on his own he is happy to bring a few toys and will sit on the fence line with his toys for 1 - 2 hours and entertain himself without any complaints. I just love my kid.. :) He can be so sweet...
Burned 528 calories playing tennis today. After 16 games I thought Cristian was patient enough and wanted to get him home in time to do some things with him and get dinner figured out. Oddly enough, Lara won 8 and I won 8 so I guess neither of us really swept the court with the other today. But, I can tell you that tomorrow it is ON!! I plan on playing double the time I played today...want to get that calorie burn up there. She had me chasing that ball today because I was defintiely hitting the "heavy breathing" meter...LOL...
Only 15 more days until our Disney vacation and I cannot wait! We booked Cristian on Nov 24th with the Pirate League for a pirate make over. For $30...I think it is pretty cool and he will LOVE it. He will be all dressed in pirate gear with his face painted just in time for our Pirate and Pals Fireworks Cruise that evening which is another first for us. We have never done that before...should be a lot of fun.
I am getting so excited about cooking. We did some major grocery shopping yesterday and today and I have all kinds of ingredients for some cool recipes! Tomorrow we are making a homemade soup for dinner and I have this recipe for a cold berry soup that I want to make for dessert that uses fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Yum!! I never thought I would enjoy cooking and baking as much as I do...now just need to get better at it :) Going to use Quinoa for a middle eastern recipe this week too...will be the first time for that one so will see how it goes. I am getting better at knowing how to make healthy substitutions in recipes too. Check me out!
A friend of ours has told me about this awesome place that sells organic spices in Dallas and after looking at their website and listening to the mouth watering spice blends and food recipes I was ready to drive there right that minute LOL It is called Penzey's. They have Zatar there too which I have been looking for since...well since I came to Texas! I am sooo excited to now have a place where I can buy it and make some of my favorite middle eastern foods and appetizers with it. Just what I needed - a new addiction to add to my list.
The weather is cooling off, the leaves are changing colors and falling off the branches, change is definitely in the air...Life is good! Celebrate it. :)
Keep Moving,
M E

I can't wait to get my limbs working again so I can join y'all in tennis. Wow, a new spice shop, that is good to know, now that Whole Foods is down the street and you have a spice shop, the sky is the limit for your health! Go girl!!
