Life has been busy busy busy but no matter how crazy, chaotic, and busy my life gets I will always make time for what is important to me.  I am a firm believer that if things are important enough to you in life then you manage to find the time for it.  You sure can learn a lot about a person when their life gets "busy".

Life isn't a sum of what keeps you running around like crazy...it is a sum of memories you create with people.  I have lost many people, both young and not so young, in my life that were very close to me. Some were taken from this life before they ever really had the opportunity to start to live it...

I have been thinking about a couple of those people quite a bit lately, especially my Sittoo and a friend of mine Tyler.  They both impacted my life in so many ways and I miss them both terribly. Even now I can hear Tyler telling me..."MJ..quit eating stupid for breakfast girl".

Life is the most precious thing we have and I honestly do live it in each moment and take absolutely nothing and no one for granted.  None of us are guaranteed tomorrow...or even in a little while.  We are only guaranteed this very moment...nothing more and nothing less.  Many speak philosophically about living every day as if it were their last...but how many of us are truly doing that?  Actions speak louder than words...Don't talk about what you want to do with your life...DO it.  At the end of the day, would you rather have memories of laughing with your children, spending time with your family, kicking back with your friends...or of working 12 hours, barely having time to sleep, grabbing food on the go, checking emails...

I'm not foolish enough to think that it is easy to grab life by the horns.  But, I do know that things worth doing the most are usually the hardest to do.  I work full-time, am a full-time parent of an active 6 year old, a full-time student in a Master's program, workout 6 - 7x a week...I understand busy!  But, I find time for things because they are important to me, very important...so I squeeze sit down dinner with family, phone calls and visits to friends, calls to family frequently, family vacations, park time, family night, game night, walks with dogs, bike rides, movie night, writing, reading....because in the end those are things that will matter to me...and that makes it worth it.

The holidays are fast approaching...take the extra time to call someone you have lost touch with, hug someone that could use it, put something that keeps you "busy" on hold for an afternoon and visit with friends/family or take the kids to the park for some quality time, turn off the cell/email for a few hours and romp around with your kids, cook together, draw, color, dance in the rain, gaze at the stars, make shapes out of clouds...turn off the TV and roll out a fun game for family game night...take time to carve a memory that you will cherish 1 month from now, 1 year from now, 10 years from now...

Today, I had an exceptionally stressful day.  Work was a little over the top, my college 6 piece assignment for Leadership is due by midnight and I was on piece #3 of 6, the house needed MAJOR cleaning, ferret cage needed to be changed, grocery shopping had to be done, 56 pound box had to be shipped via FedEx by 5:30, homework and reading for Cristian had to be completed, memorization of 15 new spelling words had to be accomplished, and the list goes on and on...

But, today I put my "busy" on hold.  I called my mom for our daily chat, called my sister for a chat, spoke with a couple friends I haven't talked to in a while, chatted with a friend on their recent vacation experiences and extravaganza, played tennis with my family for fun, cooked together, played and romped around with Cristian in a tickle war that turned into a "fight me if you can" war (which I lost), and watched Edward Scissor hands with Cristian (one of his fav's) and Lara...and you know what?  I still managed to get around to grocery shopping, completing my college coursework, going through all the flashcards and spelling words with Cristian...Didn't make it entirely to cleaning but if it gets done tomorrow - it won't hurt anything.  As for my shipment - didn't make the cut off but will ship in the am and it will still make it to Florida before I need it.  In the end - I had a GREAT day despite the trials of work life and long hours...

That is my challenge to all of you - put "busy" on hold for an afternoon, a day, or whatever goal you feel comfortable with and create the memories that you will one day measure your life by...Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow, take this moment, and only this moment...and LIVE in it.

Keep Moving,
M E
