Sometimes it is the little things that just make me smile no matter what kind of bad day I am having...and that day came yesterday when I picked my son up from school.  That boy might try his best sometimes to see just how far he can push before my face starts to change colors but in spite of his stubborn hot tempered side he is simply the SWEETEST most compassionate person I know aside from his momma.  He totally made my day yesterday...

When I picked him up from school we were stuck in a very long car pool line to leave the school lot and he was telling me how something happened at school that just made him sad.  He went on to tell me that a little boy in his 1st grade class didn't get his science assignment right because he made the fire too big and he didn't know the answers to the questions on fire and got them wrong and other boys in his class started laughing at him and making fun of him for it.  This little boy got his feelings hurt and Cristian was sad about his feelings being hurt and stood up to these kids telling them how mean they were being.

Well, he pulled this piece of paper out of his red folder and showed it to me saying that he drew a picture and wrote a letter to the boy "K" in his class that got his feelings hurt because he wanted him to be happy.  The picture was just the cutest thing ever and it had "K" and Cristian in it and Cristian was holding this big banner that said:  "K YOU ROCK" and it had all this colorful artwork on there he drew.

I flipped it over and there was a long letter he wrote, on his own, that talked about how he was sorry he got his feelings hurt by other kids that were being bullies to him and mean and that it isn't nice to make fun of people or laugh at them.  He talked about how treating people mean like that is just being a bully and that he was his friend and would never laugh or be mean to other kids, etc...he thought he rocked and did a great job because he tried his best and trying your best is important.  When we finally made it closer to the clearing I noticed that the little boy was still waiting on his ride so Cristian ran out and gave him the drawing/letter before we left.

I know that it may seem like a small story, but for me, it is much more than that.

My son just made my day...Through all the joys and challenges of parenthood I can say without hesitation that there is nothing I am proud of or love more than being his mom.  I feel so blessed to have such an incredible person in my life.

I love this picture of him and his BFF, Sabrina...my boy - always with a smile on his face :)

Cheers,
