We left Margate, FL around 7:30am to head to Port Canaveral for our Disney Cruise but we had a few stops along the way.  We stopped by my mom's work to tell her goodbye and Cristian of course sweet talked her into a donut, soda, and M&M chocolate chip cookies before we made it out the door.  On the way to Port Canaveral we started to get a little hungry for breakfast and low and behold we spotted a Friendly's!!  I LOVE that place and since I no longer live up North and that is where it is - I haven't had it in so long!  Now, Friendly's has made it South to sunny Florida, WOOT!!!  Hell yes!  So needless to say we stopped and had a light breakfast and yes I had to have a picture with the menu!  Cristian took a pretty good picture:

We made it to the cruise terminal around 12:30.  We stopped to take a picture on the ramp with the ship in the background.  This is one big Disney ship!  The ship is brand new and has only sailed 10 times!  Disney Fantasy - here we come!

Check in was a breeze - no line - no waiting and Goofy just happened to be there to greet us.  We all know I HAD to have a picture of that!

Then, as if they just knew we were coming, after our picture with Goofy they swapped characters and Mickey Mouse took his place.  Since the line was only 3 people deep we got back in line and did another picture with the Mouse.  Cristian, although he is beyond the magic of the characters, still has fun taking pictures with "the guy in the costume" as he puts it.  LOL.

Our room is on Deck 2 which let me tell you is not the deck you want to be on when cruising with motion sickness, but the cabin was so roomy that I didn't seem to mind so much.  We are in room 2530 and have an Oceanview.  The cabin is so spacious compared to other Cruise Lines!  You even have 2 separate bathroom areas.  One has the sink and toilet and the other has a sink and shower/tub combo.  I LOVE that.  I was also surprised by all the storage space.  There are large closets and all kinds of drawers and places for your things.  The bed is one of the best parts - it is a real queen bed, not 2 beds pushed together and it is a good 4 feet off the ground with the space beneath it about 2 feet tall so all those bags and suitcases just roll right under the bed for storage!  Cristian tested the TV when we walked in and I was even more surprised to find that we had FREE on demand with all kinds of channels and programming AND FREE movies like Big Miracle!!!  How cool!!!  We watched Big Miracle late in the evening - what an awesome movie!

Here are some cabin pictures:

Ever wonder what happens to your luggage while you wait for it to make it to your cabin?  Our cabin happens to be right near the employee area where all those pieces of luggage get piled while the staff sorts them to the right cabins.  Hope you don't ever put anything fragile or breakable in there because here is what they don't want you to see:

Nice, eh?  Man, oh man…what a mess!

We had a light lunch in the Enchanted Garden.  This place was so neat!  It felt like you were in an enchanted garden with the furniture, murals, lighting fixtures, etc…It was so pretty.  Cristian thought it looked so magical.  The booths were really cool too.  He thought it was awesome he got to sit in a booth like this:

They had some awesome healthy foods on the light buffet too.  I had some stone crab legs, shrimp, asparagus, and a slice of prime rib.  It was really really good!  The dining here on this cruise line is interesting.  They have what they call rotational dining.  Each night you are assigned to a different restaurant for dinner but your servers follow you each night so they stay the same.  You get to experience each of their themed dining areas twice and one three times.  Last night we ate at the Royal Court which was so pretty.  They had the nicest lighting fixtures and all kinds of details on the walls.  The seats themselves looked like little throne seats, the table had padding about an inch thick on it, and my cloth napkin literally weighed a good pound LOL  Dinner choices were SO good too!  Lara and I both had the same thing…

Appetizer - Cheese Soufflé
Soup - French Onion
Main Course - Aged steak with snap peas and zucchini
Dessert - Mini size trio of Chocolate Mousse, sugar free mango cheesecake, and creme brûlée

I didn't think to take pictures until the soup came but here is what it looked like - although it doesn't look nearly as yummy in these pictures as it looked in person:

We ended our night with a Disney Welcome Show which was pretty neat.  Some of it was definitely too kiddish for us but there were parts that had everyone, adults included, laughing.  They had a magician give a sampling of what is in store for his shows and he was hysterical.  Here is a shot of us in the Disney Theatre:

Tomorrow we have a relaxing day at sea!  Lara and I have our Metabolism Test at the Spa in the morning.  I am curious to see what that shows.  Cristian wants to spend the day in the kid area but I think we are going to try to ride the Aqua Duck a couple times which is the water roller coaster they have on the ship and hang out by the pool!  There are also a few neat things going on onboard that we may look into!  Look forward to Day 2!

Cheers,
M E
